Lower bidder buys farm from county because he bid the right way

The County Board sold some property they have owned for over 50 years to a couple with a lower bid. David Bankowski offered a bid for the property and thought he had it until the next day when a higher bid came in summated through the highway department. Bankowski convinced the county board to give it to him because he filed the $3,000 bid properly compared to the new bid which was $6,750.

Board Member Thomas Green of Streator said that Bankowski shouldn’t have known who has bid or not entirely.

Green along with other members of the board voted to sell and give the property located at East 23rd Road and North 22nd street in the Grand Rapids Township near Marseilles.
