Budget in the black for Peru

By Billy Thompson Apr 13, 2021 | 7:46 AM

The budget for the next fiscal year in Peru predicts $55.5 million in expenses and $55.8 million in revenue. Finance Director Justin Miller says about $9.2 million is for infrastructure projects like streets and water lines. $2 million will go into the police and fire pension fund. $17.1 million will be for buying electricity that the city resells to residents and businesses.

He’s working on simplifying accounting and budgeting by reducing the number of accounts the city keeps track of its money in. There were 850 accounts. He’s combined and eliminated accounts to get it down to 795. His goal is 700.

Miller made his presentation to the Peru City Council last night.
