Marquette defeated Putnam County in two sets at Bader Gym.

For the Lady Crusaders Addie McConnaughhay had five kills and six digs,  Evelyn Biggins and Eva McCallum each finished with five kills and Kaylee Killelea added a match-best 17 assists.

 

The Earlville boys soccer team defeated Serena 5-1  in the Little Ten Conference Tournament semifinals Tuesday.

Devyn Kennedy scored three goals and Diego Vazquez had two goals and an assist for the Red Raiders, who will face Indian Creek in the championship game on Thursday.

 

Also in soccer, The Streator Bulldogs won at home against Clifton-Central 3-2.

 

 

Keep the radio on tonight for the White Sox when they continue their series with the Indians at Guaranteed Rate Field.  Carlos Rodon takes the mound For the Sox to face Cleveland’s Zach Plesac. Pregame starts at 6:30 with the first pitch at 7:10pm. Don’t miss any of the action tonight on 1430AM WCMY.

 

Last night the Indians scored twice in the 10th and held on to beat the White Sox 2-0 at Guaranteed Rate Field.  Lucas Giolito struck out eight and fired seven scoreless innings for the South-Siders, while Garrett Crochet was tagged with the loss.  The Sox only had three hits in the loss.  

 

Willson Contreras’ two-run homer in the eighth lifted the Cubs to a 3-2 win over the Brewers at Miller Park.  Kris Bryant drove in a run and Pedro Strop earned the win in relief for the North-Sider.  The Cubs and Brewers finished the three-game set today.  

 

Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Matt Carpenter all homered as the Cardinals trounced the Nationals 14-3 at Busch Stadium.  Jack Flaherty got the win after tossing five-innings of one run ball.  The three-game series wraps up today

The Chicago Bulls host the Magic tonight at the United Center.  The Bulls hold the tenth spot in the Eastern Conference.

 

Professional Bowler Anthony Neuer (also known as the Ginger Assassin) became the first person in 30 years to convert the historically-difficult 7-10 split during a televised match at  the U.S. Open semifinal match in Reno, Nevada.  The 18-year-old was the first to do it since Jess Stayrook picked up the difficult spare at the 1991 Tucson Open, and just the fourth pro bowler in history to accomplish the feat on television.
