When the Pistol Shrimp baseball team plays and practices in Peru, its players will need places to stay. Manager June Keeley is asking for host families who can spare a private room and bed for free. If the player doesn’t have a car, he may need the family to give him rides to and from Veterans Park.
Keeley wants the applying families to know the compensation isn’t in cash. The family may form a close bond with the player. And the family will be recognized at baseball games.
Keeley tries to match families with players. Someone who’s allergic to cats shouldn’t stay with a family who has one, for example.
