The Ottawa Pirates won their baseball season opener by dominated Pontiac in six innings 13-3.

The Pirates Jace Addis took the mound and in the first four innings, allowing only two hits and no earned runs. 

 

The Ottawa soccer team outscored Plano 7-2 In the Interstate Eight Conference Tournament, the Pirates advanced to Saturday’s fifth-place game to face LP .

 

In Girls Volleyball, Ottawa lost on the road to Sycamore in three sets

For the Lady Pirates Piper Nanouski led the team with  7 kills – 4 aces,  Ryleigh Stevenson added 6 kills and Lilly Miller finished with 24 assists

 

Marquette defeated Henry in 2 sets.

Leading the Lady Crusaders  Addie McConnaughhay had 10 digs, 4 kills and added 6 aces, Lindsey Kaufmann added 5 kills and 8 digs.and Kaylee Killelea paced the offense with 19 assists. 

 

The Marquette Academy JV football team was defeated by Elmwood-Brimsfield 20-16 on Monday night.

For the Crusaders, offensively, Vinny Battistelli rushed for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns and Primo Patelli rushed for 90 yards.

On defense, Noah Barth had 7 tackles and Ethan Price finished with 6 tackles. The JV Crusaders play at United next week.

 

The Shepherd girls defeated LaSalle Lincoln at both grade levels in junior high basketball.

The 8th grade Lady Rams won 47-11 and The 7th grade team won 32-2.

 

 

Last night Carlos Rodon threw the 20th no-hitter in White Sox history.  The lefty lost a perfect game with one out in the ninth when he hit Roberto Pérez with a pitch, but held on to complete the no hitter in the Sox  8-0 win over the Indians at Guaranteed Rate Field.  Yermín Mercedes smacked a three-run homer for the South-Siders.

 

Catch the White Sox this afternoon when they wrap up the home series against Cleveland. Lance Lynn takes the mound for the South-Siders to take on Aaron Ci-va-le and the Indians. Pre-game starts at 12:30 with the first pitch at 1:10pm. Don’t miss any of the action here today on 1430AM WCMY.

 

The Cubs offensive struggles continue following a 7-0 defeat to the Brewers in Milwaukee. Jake Arrieta took the loss after giving up three runs over five innings for the Cubs, who will host the Braves tomorrow.

 

The Cardinals were blanked 6-0 by the Nationals at Busch Stadium.  Adam Wainwright was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits over five innings. Catcher Yadier Molina made history by catching his two-thousandth game of his career. The Cards hit the road to face the Phillies tomorrow night.

 

The Chicago Bulls late rally fell short in a 115-106 loss to the Magic at the United Center.  Zach LaVine led the Bulls with 30 points and Nikola Vucevic  posted 29 points and 11 rebounds in his first game against his former team.  

 

The Blackhawks continue a five-game road trip tonight in Detroit against the Red Wings.
