Tonight we have a double bill of HIgh School football .

The Ottawa Pirates will host the Kaneland Knights at KIng Field. Game time is at 6pm,  Listen to all the play by play action with Sean Frey and Briar Lehr on 95.3 JackFM and streaming online at 953 JACKFM DOT COM.

The Marquette Crusaders are at Gould Stadium to take on the United Red Storm at 7pm. Hear all the play by play with Isaac Missel  on 1430 WCMY and online at 1430 WCMY DOT COM.

The Streator bulldogs will host Lisle 

The Seneca Irish travel to Dwight 

The Morris Redskins will host the LP Cavaliers

Coal City is at Reed-Custer 

Sycamore at home taking on Rochelle

And on Saturday, the Bruins of St Bede will compete at Bureau Valley

 

 

In Girls volleyball

Marquette Defeated Midland in 2 sets.

 Leading the Lady Crusaders were Addie McConnaughhhay with 9 kills and 6 digs. Lindsey Kaufmann and Eva McCallum each added 7 kills and 7 digs. Kaylee Killelea paced the offense with 25 assists

 

Ottawa lost at home to the LP Lady Cavaliers in two sets.

For the Lady Pirates, Piper Nanouski had six kills, six digs, three aces, Ryleigh Stevenson added five kills, three aces and Lily Miller finished with 14 assists.

 

Streator defeated visiting Reed-Custer in two straight sets, 

Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs, Halie Grace with six kills, Mallory Goerne with five kills – two aces and Jozie Cole with 11 assists

 

The Serena Red Raiders defeated indian Creek  4-1 to win the Soccer Little Ten Tournament championship.

 

Shepherd defeated Marquette at both grade levels in girls basketball.

The 8th Grade team defeated Marquette 30-15.

Leading the Lady Rams was Marlie Orlandi with 10 pts

 

Shepherd 7th Grade outscored the lady knights 19-10.

Mary Stisser had 10 pts in the Lady Rams victory.

 

 

Elsewhere in sports

Jose Ramirez homered as the Indians doubled up the White Sox 4-2 at Guaranteed Rate Field.  Lance Lynn struck out 10 but gave up two runs over six to take the loss for the South-Siders who visit the Red Sox tonight.

 

The Cubs host the Braves today. The North-Siders have lost six of their last eight games.

 

 The Cardinals visit the Phillies tonight for the start of a three-game weekend set.  The Cards have lost four of five.  

 

The Chicago Blackhawks led 1-0 before giving up four unanswered goals in a 4-1 loss to the Red Wings in Detroit.  

 

Bulls guard Zach LaVine is expected to miss several games after entering the NBA’s health and safety protocols for COVID-19.  The Bulls welcome the Grizzlies to the United Center tonight. 

 

Over in the PGA, Cameron Smith sits on top of the leaderboard after the first round of the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head Island.  

 

The NASCAR’s Cup Series heads to Richmond Virginia on Sunday.
